It is that time again.

Like clockwork back to school is here which means it is time to spend money preparing your children for the first day of class. It is time to drive them to college or get them ready to get on that bus. This time of year is where money can just freely flow out of your bank account without you really paying attention and so I want to share a few tips to make sure that doesn't happen.

Stick to the list:

Whenever you don’t stick to a list you always buy more. Think about when you go to the grocery store without a list. You come out with twenty more items than you need that end up in the trash can later on. The same thing happens with school shopping if you don't have a list. With school shopping it is very easy to stick to a list because in every store that sells school supplies there will be a list for you to follow. Pick up the list when you enter the store and go by that list so that you don’t buy unnecessary items.

Being fancy is overrated:

Just keep it simple when shopping for school supplies and even clothes. Parents there is no need to get that expensive binder or pair of jeans. The binder is going to be drawn on and the jeans are going to get a hole in them the day they are worn. You also need to remember that more school supplies and clothes will need to be bought in a few months so you don’t want to spend all of your money in August. For those who have children going to college they don't need expensive laptops or computers to type papers on. Get them something inexpensive because most of the time they are going to be in the computer lab with their friends anyway.

Helping hand:

If you are in need of a helping hand during back to school time then know that there are organizations that are around to help. These organizations want to make sure that every child has what they need for a successful school year. Make sure to attend a back to school drive to pick up what you don’t have before the school year begins.

Make sure this back to school does not break the bank!
